Why who pours it matters

Bad concrete looks great on day one.

Every slab looks perfect the afternoon it's poured. The shortcuts show up later: after a few winters, a few hundred freeze and thaw cycles and a truck in the driveway. Drag the slider and watch two pours age.

The low-bid pour CHEAPEST QUOTE

  • Poured on dirt, no compacted base
  • Thin slab, no steel
  • Extra water added so it finishes faster
  • No control joints, so it cracks where it wants

A Canfield pour DONE RIGHT

  • Graded and compacted gravel base
  • Full thickness with steel where it counts
  • The right mix for freeze and thaw
  • Joints placed so it moves where we planned

What we pour

If it's flat, gray and needs to last, we do it.

We come look at it

We walk the site, measure it and ask how you'll use it. You get a written price with everything on it. No pressure and no mystery line items.

Free. Takes about 20 minutes.
2

Prep is the whole job

Old concrete out. Ground graded and compacted. Forms set to line and grade, steel in. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides if it cracks.

Where the cheap bids save their money.
3

Pour day

Truck shows up, crew's already there. We place it, screed it and work it while it's ready, not when it's convenient.

Usually one morning.
4

Finish and joints

Floated, edged and broomed for grip. Control joints go in on time so the slab moves where we planned, not where it feels like.

The part you'll look at for 30 years.
5

Clean up and walk-through

Forms pulled, yard cleaned up, and we tell you exactly when you can walk on it, park on it and roll the grill out.

We leave it cleaner than we found it.
On the job

Don't take our word for it. Watch us work.

No stock footage. This is our crew, our trucks and our concrete.

Size my slab

How much concrete is that, anyway?

Slide to your rough size and see the square footage and the yards of concrete it takes. Then send us the numbers and we'll come give you a real, written price.

Fresh concrete is the one thing nobody can resist. Drag your finger or mouse across the slab. When you're done, we'll float it smooth and pour you a real one.

Same name on the truck for 27 years.

Fly-by-night crews change their name every time the callbacks pile up. Canfield Construction has been pouring under the same name since 1999, because we still drive past our own work every day.

When you call, you talk to the people who'll be standing in your driveway on pour day. That's the whole pitch.

Questions we get on every estimate.

Plan on walking on it after a day or two and parking a car on it after about a week. Concrete keeps gaining strength for about a month, so hold off on the heavy stuff like a loaded trailer or the RV until then. We'll give you exact dates for your pour.

All concrete moves. The job is controlling where. A compacted base, steel and joints placed at the right spacing mean any cracking happens down in the joint lines, where you'll never notice it.

Yes. We break it out, haul it off and fix whatever was underneath that made it fail in the first place. Tear-out is priced right in your estimate.

It depends on size, thickness, tear-out and access, which is why we look at it in person instead of guessing over the phone. The estimate is free and it's in writing.

Often, yes, with the right mix and blankets to protect it while it cures. Some days it's smarter to wait, and we'll tell you so instead of risking your slab.

Yes. We run our own curb machine for subdivisions, streets and parking lots, and we pour flatwork for builders and general contractors. Call us about your plans.

Let's get it poured.

Tell us what you're thinking. We'll come out, measure it and hand you a written price. Free, and usually within the week.
